Past Present - Paul Miller

Where are they now? Billy Shaw catches up with a former player to find out what they are doing these days and briefly look back on their time in N17. This month: PAUL MILLER.

PP_portraitPaul Miller enjoys watching the likes of Harry Kane and Ryan Mason playing week-in, week-out because it reminds him of his own time at White Hart Lane.

Like Harry, Ryan and a clutch of other regulars in the current squad, the Stepney-born centre-half came up through our youth ranks to make an impact on the senior stage in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

One of the advantages of that was the close friendship Paul established with his playing comrades as they emerged through the system around the same time.

Having gone on to win back-to-back FA Cups in 1981 and 1982 and the UEFA Cup in 1984 as part of our set-up, the man known as ‘Maxy’ is pleased to see the team spirit still shared by the players from his successful era being replicated among our current charges.

“I’m still involved with the Club on the hospitality side – it’s been a part of most of my life,” said the 55-year-old, who scored 10 goals in 285 appearances for us between 1979 and 1987.
