Teemu Tainio recently called time on his playing career, yet he still remembers his arrival at Spurs as if it was yesterday.

The versatile midfielder joined us in 2005 following an eight-year stint with French side Auxerre, having earlier plied his trade in his native Finland with TP-47 and FC Haka.

As the now 35-year-old recalls, his move to White Hart Lane a decade ago was a special moment for him – not least because he was a keen Spurs supporter as a child.

“It was a dream come true to join the Club,” said Teemu, who won the League Cup with us in 2008, going on as a substitute for Steed Malbranque in the Wembley final against Chelsea.
