My Spurs Debut

The section where we invite Spurs fans to pinpoint their first ever visit to White Hart Lane and detail the players who captured their imagination in those early days. This month, Emily Collins from Chigwell takes us back to pre-season in 2001 when we celebrated the career of legendary former manager Bill Nicholson.

The first time I came to White Hart Lane was not for a competitive game yet it was one that, in my eyes, was just as important.

I’m too young to have witnessed what Bill Nicholson did for Spurs first-hand but, coming from a family of dedicated Spurs fans, I think it’s fair to say I’ve been diligent in learning our history and have come to appreciate just what a tremendous contribution Bill made to the club.

My family have never been season ticket holders but we got the chance to go to the match against Fiorentina in the lead-up to the 2001-02 season, taking in a game that had been designated as Bill’s Testimonial.
