Diary_Stokes1    MONDAY

1959    We win 2-1 in a friendly at Dynamo Kiev 2-1. Johnny Brooks scores both our goals despite the poor surface in front of a 60,000 crowd.

2    TUESDAY

1928    Goalkeeper Ron Reynolds born in Haslemere. He would join us from Aldershot in July, 1950.

3    WEDNESDAY

1961    We celebrate our Double success with a banquet at the Savoy Hotel.

4    THURSDAY

1979    We beat Dundee United 2-0 in the Japan Cup Final in Tokyo thanks to goals from Gordon Smith and Ossie Ardiles.

5    FRIDAY

1957    Alfie Stokes (pictured, right) scores five times in a 12-0 triumph over Manitoba All Stars in Winnipeg. Terry Dyson hits a hat-trick while Micky Dulin bags a brace. Tommy Harmer and Dave Dunmore complete the rout.
