My Spurs Debut

The section where we invite Spurs fans to pinpoint their first ever visit to White Hart Lane and detail the players who captured their imagination in those early days. This month Steff Reynolds, from Thetford, takes us back to August, 2004, when she watched the ‘Magnificent Seven!’

My first game at White Hart Lane is easy to recall! Not just because it was as recently as 2004 but also because I shared my debut with seven new players!

Jacques Santini had just taken over as manager, having resigned from the France job after the Euros, and there was a lot of optimism about as he started rebuilding the side. Looking back now it is amazing to think that he was gone by November!

His first match was Liverpool at home on the opening day of the season and that too was ‘my’ game.  We had a new goalkeeper in Paul Robinson and he was joined by fellow new boys Pedro Mendes, Sean Davis, Erik Edman, Noureddine Naybet, Thimothee Atouba, who started on the bench, and young home-grown full-back Phil Ifil.
