Flashback - with Stuart Nethercott

Centre-half Stuart Nethercott came up through our junior ranks, winning the FA Youth Cup with us in 1990 before making his first team bow against Chelsea in March, 1993. He went on to make 62 senior appearances for us before joining Millwall, where he became a popular figure among fans of the Lions. He’s in the hot seat this month, looking back on his playing days.

What was your pre-match meal?

Chicken and beans! We used to have that a lot back in the day.

What current player would you have liked to have played alongside?
Jan Vertonghen. It would have been nice to play next to him at the back with a left foot, right foot combination. I could win the headers and he could sweep around me!

What player of your era is worth £30m today?
In my side I’d say Teddy Sheringham but, in terms of opponents, I think Alan Shearer would have been worth that sort of money as well.
