debut-1-september It was a dream for me to go to White Hart Lane. We were living in Thaxted in Essex at the time and few if any of my schoolmates were Spurs fans. It is an unusual area in that there is no local big club to support.

As you go further east you move into the Ipswich catchment area and there are also a few Colchester United fans around. But for the most part, any youngsters interested in football went for the likes of Manchester United or the big London clubs.

For me it was always Spurs; simply because my parents followed the club. So I generally had footballs and Tottenham shirts as presents but I was always desperate to go to the Lane.
