The date is May 21, 1945. And part of a giant 54,000 crowd snakes back from our main gates on to the High Road. Certainly an unusual sight in an era when attendances were restricted to a maximum of 25,000 in the wartime regional league games of the time.

But what game were they seeking to watch at White Hart Lane? Amazingly, it was Arsenal hosting touring Russian side Dynamo Moscow!

With Highbury requisitioned for Air Raid Precaution activities, the Gunners were sharing the Lane and played their Football League South games there during the conflict.
