Diary_Copeland1    WEDNESDAY

1897    Charlie Walters born in Sandford-on-Thames. A future Spurs centre-half, he joined the club as an amateur in December, 1919, and was a member of our 1921 FA Cup-winning side.

2012    Our first meeting with Swansea City in the Premier League at White Hart Lane. We win 3-1 as Emmanuel Adebayor scores twice.

2    THURSDAY

1875    David Copeland (pictured, right), one of our 1901 FA Cup winners, born in Ayr.

1980    We lose 2-0 at home to Ipswich in what proves to be Terry Naylor’s last Spurs game.

3    FRIDAY

1982    We beat Gary Lineker’s Leicester City 2-0 at Villa Park to reach the FA Cup Final.

2010    Gomes saves two penalties at Sunderland but we still go down 3-1.

4    SATURDAY

1914    Fanny Walden wins his first England cap in a 3-1 defeat to Scotland at Hampden Park. On the same day we draw 0-0 at home to Liverpool.

1983    We beat Terry Neill’s Arsenal 5-0 at the Lane on Easter Monday. Chris Hughton and Mark Falco both score twice while Alan Brazil nets his first Spurs goal.
