Flashback - with Steve Sedgley

An FA Cup winner with us in 1991, having achieved the same feat at our expense with Coventry City four years earlier, defender Steve Sedgley made 211 appearances for us, scoring 11 goals, between 1989 and 1994. He went on to spend three years apiece at Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers, before ending his playing career in 2000. He answers our questions on his playing days this month.

What was your pre-match meal?

I had a ham and mushroom omelette with baked beans then, a bit later in my career, I’d have boiled chicken and tomato sauce – sometimes we had pasta as well. I generally liked to eat lighter food before games, I couldn’t go into the matches on a full stomach.

What current player would you have liked to have played alongside?
I don’t think you can pick one. I’d have liked to have played alongside them all. Anyone who plays for Spurs is always going to be a top player and I think you could learn from all of them.
