    Senior Occupational Health, Safety and Risk Manager

    The Club is searching for a Senior Occupational Health, Safety and Risk Manager to lead the Occupational Health, Safety and Risk team taking full responsibility for the planning and delivery of all aspects of Occupational Health, Safety and Risk Management within the organisation.

    JOB PURPOSE

    To take full responsibility for the planning and delivery of all aspects of occupational health, safety and risk management within the Club, ensuring all statutory requirements are being met or exceeded and delivering to highest of standards.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Hold overall accountability for the planning and delivery of all aspects of occupational health, safety and risk management within the Club.
    • Line manage the occupational health, safety and risk management team to drive a proactive, comprehensive, high quality occupational health and safety service throughout the Club.
    • Ensure that the Club complies with the statutory health and safety framework, current relevant safety legislation and best practice in relation to its employees and all others who may be affected by their undertakings.
    • Strategic management of occupational health, safety and welfare policies, procedures and actions for all Club functions.
    • Promote and ensure a proactive, strong, robust culture of health and safety exists throughout the Club.
    • Provide advice, information and assistance to managers and staff so that the Club meets or exceeds its obligations in respect of health, safety and welfare while ensuring consistency of approach.
    • Continually drive an awareness and understanding of health and safety issues throughout the Club and recommend progressive policies, safe practices and systems of work.
    • Advise, train and educate staff, contractors, partners and visiting workers through programs of presentations, practical demonstrations and information campaigns related to the promulgation of best practice and legislation.
    • Co-ordinate accident, incident and near miss reporting. Annalise trends and prepare reports. Work with the occupational health, safety and risk management team to further develop existing provisions.
    • Co-ordinate health and safety information, well-being programs and target areas identified from trend analysis reports.
    • Carry out and coordinate investigations with regards to accident, incidents and near misses implementing necessary actions, remedies and procedures as necessary.
    • Create and maintain a comprehensive suite of health, safety and risk documents and policies covering all aspects of the Club’s functions.
    • Co-ordinate, monitor, assist/advise and conduct risk assessments.
    • Monitor and coordinate health, safety and risk compliance of all contractors and partners.
    • Work closely with the statutory enforcing bodies on relevant areas of health and safety legislation. e.g. RIDDOR, DSE, COSHH, risk assessments, etc.
    • Attend and drive the occupational health, safety and risk management Committee meetings and present statistical analysis, written reports and other information as necessary.
    • Research health, safety and risk best practice, new legislation and trends; and maintain an up to date knowledge of health and safety and approved codes of practice so that the services provided are continually improved.
    • Establish audit methods and develop a suitable program to monitor and demonstrate compliance with current statutory requirements and best practice.
    • Ensure health, safety and risk is regularly monitored throughout the Club and that appropriate health and safety provisions are made available to staff to comply with the Club’s statutory obligations.
    • Further develop and oversee the permit to work process.
    • Maintain a consistent customer care, quality of approach to customers, colleagues, clients and visitors

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Considerable management-level experience specifically within occupational health and safety, ideally accrued within the event and/or sporting industry
    • Chartered Membership to IOSH and qualified to give formal training such as ‘IOSH’, etc.
    • Proven experience of developing policies and implementing health and safety
    • Line management experience
