International Tours

The Club has taken part in several international tours in recent years including visits to the USA, South Africa, South Korea and Mauritius. This summer, the Club will travel to Asia for three matches in China and Hong Kong.

2009 - China and Hong Kong

Asia Trophy Winners in 2009

In July 2009 the Club visited Beijing in China winning the 2009 Barclays Premier League Asia Trophy, beating hull City in the final game having defeating West Ham United in the semi-final. The team then played a friendly match against South China in Hong Kong on Sunday August 2.


2009 - USA

In July 2009 the Club's under 16 team will compete in the PUMA vElite competition at the USA Cup 2009, the largest youth soccer event in the United States. For more information, click HERE.


2007 - Vodacom Challenge, South Africa

Vodacom Challenge Winners


In July 2007, the Club returned to South Africa to participate and ultimately win the 2007 Vodacom Challenge. The team played three matches, two against Orlando Pirates in Cape Town and Johannesburg and one against Kasier Chiefs in Durban.

Whilst in South Africa, Club officials and players also spent time with children from St Vincent Children's home, Ekurhuleni Children's home, The Beautiful Gate AIDS centre, local disadvantaged schools and from our nominated charity, SOS Children's Village. 

 

2003 - South Africa

In July 2003, the Club travelled to South Africa to support their bid for the 2010 World Cup. The Club played matches against Orlando Pirates at ABSA Stadium in Durban and against Kaiser Chiefs at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. Our coaches and first team squad also took time out to visit townships in both cities in order to conduct coaching sessions for underprivileged children.

Whilst in South Africa, Club officials and players also met with representatives from the South African 2010 World Cup bid, as well as Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the British High Commissioner.

2005 - South Korea

Peace Cup 2005 Winners


In the summer of 2005, the Club travelled to South Korea to participate in the 2005 Peace Cup. We played group matches against Boca Juniors and Sundowns in Suwon, Real Sociadad in Ulsan, before going on to win the final against French champions Lyon in Seoul.

Whilst in South Korea, the Club's community department also conducted coaching sessions for hundreds of local children.

 

 

Mauritius tour - 2005


2005 - Mauritius 

In May 2005, the Club travelled to Mauritius to play a one off friendly against the Mauritian national team at the Anjalay Stadium. Whilst in Mauritius, Club officials and players also visited children at local schools and met with the British High Commissioner.

In May 2003, the Club travelled to Washington DC, USA, to play in the Capital Cup against DC United at the RFK Stadium.
