Edna Bentley was nominated by her daughter Jill Weddle as our latest 'Hotspur Hero' with a pitchside presentation given by Spurs Legends Pat Jennings and Phil Beal at Tottenham Hotspur's match against Arsenal which was also her birthday. Edna-Bentley-hotspur-hero-day

Edna is a lifelong supporter and has been supporting Spurs as a Season Ticket Holder for over 65 years. Edna still works in Sainsbury's so that she can afford her annual season ticket.

Over the last two years Edna has been very ill, through all her treatments she has rarely missed attending a home match. Indeed she has even asked consultants to schedule her operations and treatments to dates which still allow her to attend home matches!

Edna has alot of personal Spurs memorabilia. She has a newspaper cutting which shows her on a Tour of the Lane in December 1950 when she was 18. It was printed in the Spurs Lilywhite supporters programme dated December 1950. She also has letters written from Bill Nicholson to Edna's mum! They met in the 50s when Edna's parents owned the Off License in Park Lane and they became good friends thereafter and have several lovely letters and memories from him which they treasure. So the passion and loyalty runs in the family - four generations!!

After her mum's special day Jill said "In all her 65 years as a Season Ticket Holder, she has never felt so special as she did. It's been a very difficult two years for her but thanks to Spurs the smile has now returned to her face. Mum enjoyed every minute, and was delighted to meet her own Spurs heroes including Ardiles, Mabbutt, and Jennings. She has some lovely photos which we will all treasure for many years to come. Mum is very proud to be a Hotspur Hero and we are all very grateful to Spurs for her Award"
We were sorry to hear of the passing of our Hotspur Hero Edna Bentley who died on Monday 14 November 2016. Edna had been a passionate and loyal Season Ticket Holder for over 65 years, her family's support for the Club is due to Edna's enthusiasm and passion. Edna will be sadly missed.
