Vastly experienced Moroccan defender who retired from international football in 2005 with more than 100 appearances for his country only to return for the African Nations Cup.
Left Wydad Casablanca for Nantes in 1993 and, after a season in France and then two with Sporting Lisbon, he joined Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna in 1996. Won the Spanish League (1999-2000) and Spanish Cup (2002) as his side challenged Barcelona and Real Madrid for honours.
Made his Spurs debut in a 1-1 draw with Liverpool on the opening day of the 2004-05 season just 24 hours after signing from Deportivo.
Went on to make 31 appearances in all competitions in his first season at White Hart Lane, scoring in the epic 5-4 home defeat against Arsenal.
Remains an important, experienced member of the squad and rarely out of the 16-man party on matchdays.
