Dutch international midfielder joined Spurs on the back of disappointing spells at Inter Milan and Barcelona. Joining from Inter on a free transfer Edgar was handed his debut against Middleborough at White Hart Lane.
Over the coming weeks the goggle-wearing central or wide left midfielder commanded the centre of the pitch, with his energetic running, simple and composed passing. He impressed immediately, surprising for a player who had been out for a number of months and was brought over as more of a role model to lift the team as Martin Jol had stated.
The Davids influence was obviously doing something, with the side finishing 5th in the 2005/2006 season. Unfortunately for Davids, during the 2006/2007 season he struggled to gain a place in the side and was allowed to leave at the half way point, rejoining Ajax.
