Chris Armstrong joined Spurs from relegated Crystal Palace in the summer of 1995, after impressing Francis with his pace and strength accompanied by his energetic chasing and tireless running.
After initially struggling the Newcastle born centre forward eventually found the net with a 25 yard volley against Everton. This kick started Armstrong who continued to score goals, finishing with 22 for the season.
The start of the 1996/1997 season promised so much for Armstrong, however after injuring an ankle in the opening match of the season sparked the beginning of the end of his time at the Lane. A handful of appearances is all the striker could manage during the next few years, before moving to Bolton in 2002.
