The Republic of Ireland international completed his
move from Nottingham Forest on the final day of the January transfer window of
2005, along with team-mate Michael Dawson.
Scored 25 goals in 160
first-team appearances after signing on as a trainee at the City Ground and
turning professional in August 1999.
Made his international debut at
Under-18 and Under-16 level- and was part of the UEFA Under-16 Championship
winning team of 1998.
Scored his first goal for us with a long range
effort in the 5-1 win over Aston Villa on May 1, 2005.
regular in our 16-man matchday squad but has seen starting chances limited by
the arrival of Edgar Davids, who has been employed in a left-sided role.
Has impressed on Irish duty where he scored against Italy and was man of
the match against France but unfortunately will not be going to the 2006 World
Cup after the Republic finished third in their qualifying group.
