We are delighted to announce a new FdA Sport Hospitality and Nutrition course, due to commence in January 2012. Subject to validation, the two-year programme will combine theoretical teaching with practical cooking sessions and active work placements.
The course offers a unique opportunity to study and work in sport hospitality within a Premier League Football club. The programme is delivered by the Tottenham Hotspur and is based at White Hart Lane , using fantastic facilities such as the state-of-the-art Spurs Learning Zone and the large stadium kitchens.
Modules studied by students include; Professional Practice & Study Skills, Nutrition, Sport, Hospitality & Community Development, Professional Practice & Research Methods and Sport Hospitality Marketing & Management, plus two active work placements.
This exciting new programme allows those currently working in the hospitality sector or with an interest in hospitality and sport to combine the two sectors and up-skill their vocational qualifications and in-house training. Due to the vocational component, a Foundation degree graduate will ensure any employer that they are prepared for work and able to apply the needed skills immediately.
This programme is a Foundation degree and the vocational and work-based learning is the core element of this degree. Through this course we have combined academic study with practical work placements in order to provide students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work on designing and implementing nutritional menus and to apply them in the sport hospitality industry. Work placement modules within this programme total 180 hours and range from working within Tottenham Hotspur Football Club’s hospitality sector to experiencing kitchens within hotels.
We provide a unique environment where young people can build their self-esteem and confidence, raise their aspirations and gain new skills and knowledge to help improve future education, training and employment opportunities. We offer a strong learning pathway from Key Stage 1 through to Higher Education.
We are hosting an open day for the course on Thursday 10 November, 5.30pm at White Hart Lane Stadium. For more information on the Open Day, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 020 8365 5138.
