Since April 2016 the Foundation has been supporting local Haringey residents to give up smoking through it's free Stop Smoking Service. The programme forms part of the Club's commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of residents in its local community.
The programme is funded by Public Health Haringey under the banner of Public Health England's national ONE YOU campaign which supports people to makes changes towards a longer and happier life.
The service which runs for 12 weeks is aimed at Haringey residents who are over 18 and are tobacco or cigarette smokers. As part of the 12 week engagement, participants attend regular check-up with the Foundation's NHS Stop Smoking Service Practitioner. They will receive advice to help them plan their quit attempt, and support throughout their attempt to help them to quit for good.
Participants will also have access to licensed stop smoking medication including a Nicotine Replacement Therapy or a prescription only medication. The Foundation's Stop Smoking Service Practitioner will help them decide which method would be suitable for them.
The Stop Smoking clinic takes place at Coombes Croft Library on Mondays, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, and on Thursdays, from 2pm to 5pm.
