  • Barnet and Southgate College Centre of Excellence

    The Barnet & Southgate Disabilities Centre of Excellence was launched in September 2014 and is delivered in partnership with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. It provides specialist education facilities dedicated to the specific needs of students with complex learning and physical disabilities.

    The venture sees full and part-time Foundation staff based at the Centre of Excellence through funding from the Premier League and the Professional Footballers Association. The Foundation provides a combination of practical and vocational education and sport sessions as well as developing bespoke education, training and enterprise programmes.

    The Centre of Excellence aims to be a leading facility for sport and physical activity in North London and includes the following specialist facilities:

    • Hydrotherapy Pool
    • Sensory Room
    • Physiotherapy Facility
    • Rebound Room and specialist sports equipment
    • Range of specialist classrooms and accessible facilities with ceiling tracking
    • Mini Sports Hall
    • Media Suite
    • Catering Café
    • Domestic Kitchen
    • Drama Room with staging, lighting and specialist equipment
    • Sensory and Recreational Garden
    • Range of art and craft rooms

    To date the centre has engaged with over 367 disabled people and over 750 people in total. The facilities help develop vital communication, independent living and work skills to give participants the best chance of becoming economically active in their future life.
