Pat Jennings actually made a total of 119 senior appearances for Northern Ireland before he retired following the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
He played his final international game on his 41st birthday, making him the World Cup’s oldest ever participant at the time. Cameroon’s Roger Milla overtook him in 1994 when he played against Russia aged 42.
In fact, Big Pat’s 119 cap tally was also a world record at the time. So it is hard to believe that he is now joint 84th in the global list!
