The section where we invite Spurs fans to pinpoint their first ever visit to White Hart Lane and detail the players who captured their imagination in those early days. This month Charlie Osborne, from Hastings, takes us back to September, 1976, when he first took his place at White Hart Lane

My abiding memory of my first visit to White Hart Lane concerns a player playing in his socks!

I know that most people will instantly think of Paul Gascoigne scoring minus a boot at home in our great FA Cup run of 1990-91 when he was literally beating teams on his own to get us to Wembley.

But this was early in the 1976-77 season and the player in question was Alfie Conn. As a schoolboy, I really associated with Conn because of his long hair and his flamboyant approach to the game.
