Dream Team With Kevin Ross

Kevin Ross, from Chelmsford, watched his first game at White Hart Lane in September, 1976, when we beat Leeds United by a Chris Jones goal. He has been supporting Spurs ever since. This is his all-time best XI....

dream-team-august-2 “I have watched some great players in a white shirt over the years so picking a best 11 is not easy – but always great fun. My team would be all about entertainment in true Spurs style and would always be worth watching.”

GOALKEEPER PAT JENNINGS
True, as is often observed in this series, we have had some good goalkeepers over the years but none ever got near big Pat. And, again, as a fellow fan recently wrote, he was so reliable that you really took him for granted. I would go as far as to say that on his day, Jennings was probably the best in the world.

RIGHT-BACK STEPHEN CARR
When he finally made it to the first team, Carr looked like he would stay there forever. He literally hit the ground running and proved to be the consummate all-round modern attacking full-back and a crucial aspect of our side at the time. I was sorry to see him go but accept that all good things come to an end.

LEFT-BACK CHRISTIAN ZIEGE
Ziege was probably past his best when he joined us but he brought with him such experience and instantly solved our ongoing failings on the left side of defence. I do appreciate that right-footed players can do a job on this side but never as good a natural like Christian who also took a mean free-kick.
