The section where we invite Spurs fans to pinpoint their first ever visit to White Hart Lane and detail the players who captured their imagination in those early days. This month Michael Phillips, from Stevenage, takes us back to September, 1996, when he finally made it to White Hart Lane.

Obviously I wasn’t aware of it at the time but a player who was to be an all-time favourite of mine played for the opposition on the occasion of my first visit to White Hart Lane.

That man was David Ginola and he was outstanding for Newcastle as they beat us 2-1 in that famous 1996-97 season when everyone rated them as the best in the division but they lost out to Manchester United in the title race’s final analysis.
