Birthday Boy with Garry Brooke

Born in November: Garry Brooke turns 53 on 24th November...

birthday-boy-1-novemberMidfielder Garry Brooke more than held his own amid strong competition for the midfield places during the early 1980s - and was rewarded with two FA Cup winner’s medals.

A quick and powerful winger who had emerged through our youth ranks, he rapidly established himself as a key component of a creative midfield workforce laden with international class, notably including the presence of Glenn Hoddle and Argentine duo Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa.

Born in Bethnal Green in 1960, Garry signed professional terms with us in 1978, spending an early period on loan at Swedish side GAIS in order to mature as a player.

He made his senior Spurs debut in a 3-2 home defeat by West Bromwich Albion on November 29, 1980, coming on as a substitute for Ardiles.
