My Spurs Debut

The section where we invite Spurs fans to pinpoint their first ever visit to White Hart Lane and detail the players who captured their imagination in those early days. This month Moira Rawlings, from Bishop’s Stortford, takes us back to November, 1966, when the whole country was going football crazy!

I was another Spurs fan created by England’s World Cup success in 1966.  The whole country was galvanised by that win and, although my family were not great football fans, my father wanted to see Bobby Moore and company play at our local club Spurs so he took me with him to White Hart Lane on November 12 that year to see us play West Ham United.

I say “us” because ever since then I have been a committed Spurs fan.  I was just 10-years-old but instantly fell in love with Tottenham and the Lane and have been a Spur ever since.  Oddly enough, my father never went back!
