Samuel Shashoua is a skilful attacking midfielder who has now moved up to Under-23s football.
Crafty on the ball, showing an ability to weave into good areas and also reliable in front of goal - he was our Under-18s' second-top scorer in 2016-17 - his progress was rewarded with a spot on the first team bench for the first time in the 6-1 win at Leicester City in May, 2017.
He ended the 2016-17 campaign having scored 13 goals in 23 league appearances for our Under-18s, plus two in five in the FA Youth Cup. The scorer of our first goal in the Under-19 UEFA Youth League against AS Monaco in September, 2016, he featured in all six of our games in that competition, with the fixtures mirroring those of the first team in the Champions League. A member of our IMG Cup-winning squad in Florida in December, 2016, he played four times in the Premier League 2, scoring on the final day of the Under-23s' season in a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Samuel was born and raised in Chelsea and attended Harrow School. He played for the school’s first team at football, was an Under-12s county champion at squash and represented the South of England Under-16s at hockey.
He was part of our squads which won tournaments in South Korea and Latvia in 2014-15, having also made his Under-18s bow during that campaign. It proved to be an eventful debut against Fulham in February, 2015, as he stepped off the bench to score in a 4-1 win.
He scored for our Under-18s on the opening day of 2015-16 against Brighton and went on to make 18 league appearances at that level. He netted four league goals during that campaign and scored once in two starts in the FA Youth Cup.
His younger brother Armando also plays within our Academy.
