Goalkeeper Luke McGee has picked up some vital experience of the senior football environment in the last two years.
After serving as our third-choice stopper behind Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm in 2015-16, he was named on the bench in Premier League home matches against Crystal Palace and Liverpool in August, 2016, before enjoying a highly-successful loan spell with League One side Peterborough United during the rest of the 2016-17 campaign.
With the Posh, he played 45 times in all competitions, including an FA Cup third round tie away to Chelsea, saved four penalties over the course of the campaign, was twice named as the club's player of the month and ended the term by claiming Peterborough's players' player of the year prize.
Born in Edgware, Luke joined our Academy full-time in 2012 and made more appearances for our Under-18s than any other player in 2012-13, featuring 19 times in league action.
He also featured in all three FA Youth Cup matches we played that season and made two appearances in the NextGen Series, including our fine 4-1 win away to Barcelona.
In 2013-14, he made 17 appearances for our Under-18s and played twice more in the FA Youth Cup, while also making his first two appearances at Under-21 level.
He went on our tour of the US and Canada in the summer of 2014 and made his senior debut when replacing Brad Friedel for the last 15 minutes of our victory over Chicago Fire.
He was a regular for us in the Under-21 Premier League in 2014-15, starting 18 games at that level, and also trained frequently with our senior stoppers.
He picked up some more senior game time during the pre-season spell in the summer of 2015 and subsequently trained regularly with - and acted as back-up to - Hugo and Michel throughout the 2015-16 season. In doing so, he was able to pick up some valuable pointers from the international duo, plus Goalkeeping Coach Toni Jimenez.
He was named on the first team bench twice in February, 2016, after Lloris picked up a slight injury - the second and third time he'd made the senior squad in a competitive fixture having first done so when we travelled to Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League on November 6, 2014.
In addition, Luke played six competitive matches for our Under-21s throughout 2015-16.
