Slovakian youth international defensive midfielder Filip was virtually ever-present for our Under-21s in 2015-16 before spending the first half of the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Czech side Slovan Liberec.
Having subsequently spent the second half of the season captaining our Under-23s, he made his first team debut off the bench in a 6-1 win at Leicester City in May, 2017, providing the assist for Harry Kane's hat-trick goal.
He was the only player to feature in all 22 league games for Ugo Ehiogu's side last term, starting 21 matches and making one substitute appearance. He scored once in a memorable 7-4 home win over Leicester in September, 2015, and also started all four of our games in the Premier League Under-21 International Cup.
Born in Kosice, Slovakia, Filip joined our Academy in July, 2012, and represented us in the NextGen Series, coming off the bench in five of our eight games in the tournament. He made one substitute appearance in the FA Youth Cup and featured 11 times for the Under-18s in the league during the 2012-13 campaign as well.
He was a regular in our Under-18s side in 2013-14, making 24 appearances and starting both FA Youth Cup ties we were involved in. It was during that season that he first stepped up to the Under-21s, appearing on three occasions at that level.
Filip made 11 starts and eight substitute appearances for our Under-21s during 2014-15.
He has been capped by Slovakia at Under-21, Under-19, Under-17 and Under-16 age groups.
