Chelsea-born Japanese youth international Cy Goddard has regularly been seen in and around our academy and development sides in recent years.
The 2016-17 season saw Cy play 16 times for our Under-23s in the Premier League 2, six of those from the start.
An elegant central midfielder, Cy made 19 appearances for our Under-18s back in 2013-14 and was on target twice, netting against Norwich City and Aston Villa, while making his Under-21s debut as a substitute in a 3-0 defeat at Sunderland on April 7, 2014.
Having helped us win the Premier League Under-18 Champions Cup in September, 2014, he scored three goals in 20 league appearances for our Under-18s in 2014-15, also appearing three times in the FA Youth Cup and twice as a substitute for the Under-21s.
He then made the permanent step up to Under-21s football in 2015-16, featuring largely off the bench with 13 of his 19 league appearances at that level coming as a substitute. He scored once during the campaign - a real cracker away at Leicester in March, 2016 - and also played twice in the Premier League Under-21 International Cup.
