Rapid winger Anthony Georgiou has been a lively presence down the left flank for our academy and development sides in recent years.
Unfortunately, his 2016-17 campaign was heavily disrupted by injury, which kept him on the sidelines from November, 2016, although he did manage to return in time to make a substitute appearance against Manchester United on the final day of the Premier League 2 season in May, 2017, taking his total number of games for the season at that level to six.
The Lewisham-born Cyrpiot youth international scored eight goals in 26 league appearances for our Under-18s in 2013-14 and opened his account in a 4-2 win over Norwich City that October. He later added his first brace at that level, coming off the bench to score twice against West Bromwich Albion in January, 2014. Anthony also made two substitute appearances in the FA Youth Cup that season, as well as one substitute appearance for our Under-21s.
The 2014-15 campaign saw him net four goals in 20 league appearances for our Under-18s. He was also involved in the early stages of our run to the FA Youth Cup semi-finals, memorably netting a brace in a 3-1 win over United at White Hart Lane, but was sidelined for a spell in the latter months of the season, restricting his involvement as the competition went on.
Having also made two appearances for our Under-21s during that campaign, Anthony was part of the side that won the IMG Cup in Florida in December, 2014, and was in the squad for our Premier League Under-18 Champions Cup success in September, 2014.
Anthony was a regular feature in our Under-21s set-up during 2015-16. He made 22 appearances in all competitions - 19 in the league - and demonstrated his versatility by sometimes filling in at left-back.
